Classic Grooming had its meager beginnings in a small 400 square foot facility behind the Panther’s Stadium off Morehead Street in February 2003. We perfected our grooming skills and our services were so much in demand that we needed a facility 10 times our original size! In 2008, we expanded our services to a 4,000 square foot space, where we are currently, in the Historic SouthEnd neighborhood.
Classic Grooming’s facility now offers state of the art equipment and is conveniently located right off South Boulevard or South Tryon Street. With eight groomers under our roof and an exclusive doggie fun center, our average grew to 50 dogs a day.
We are proud members of the National Dog Groomers Association of America and adhere to its Code of Ethics. We also take great pride in our current 100% rating with the Mecklenburg County Health Department . . . a rating we achieved and held for the past seven years.
Canines have influenced my life as long as I can remember. My Mother had a sincere passion for them and they were always a part of our family. From poodles to chow chows, and mixed breeds too, we loved them all.
Stephanie is a natural at the art of dog and cat grooming. Animals love her. Well established as our Senior Groomer, she’s been at Classic Grooming for 8 years and is a true artist with and over 21 years experience in the trade.
Charline was a client of ours who didn’t have to think too long about a position we had open for a Grooming Assistant. We are so glad that she decided to join us, as her sense of calm and positive attitude is especially welcomed by all of our four legged clients!
I started as a client when our Miniature Schnauzer London came into our lives. Little did I know that just a few years later the Classic Grooming team would be our second family. What drew me to Classic Grooming was the talent, compassion and care that the groomers and staff showed towards the dogs.
My passion for pets began almost before I can remember. Coming from a pet-loving family, we always had dogs and cats in our home. This made it easy for me to get away with bringing home practically every homeless puppy or kitten to cross my path!
Deciding to work for Ron at Classic Grooming was a no brainer. Becoming a groomer was a wonderful thing for me. Working so closely with animals has helped me become a kinder and more compassionate person in all areas of life.
I graduated from the grooming school; It’s a Dog’s World, in Phoenix, Arizona where I received my first professional training in grooming. From the very first day of grooming school, I knew that this was the perfect career for me.
I have been an animal lover since I was 3 and got my first dog, North, a Basset Hound. Growing up, my family had both cats and dogs and inspired me to begin a career in the pet industry in 2000 as a kennel assistant. As a high school student I worked in a pet retail store and as a bather in a pet salon.
I’ve have worked with animals since I was 18. I’ve worked in kennels, pet stores and an animal hospital. Being around them makes everyday better. I started primarily bathing in 2013 at an animal hospital and then I came to Classic Grooming. I love my job here.
I have been in the industry now for about 12 years. I especially enjoy working at Classic Grooming because we have great clients and dogs! In this job, I find myself constantly learning new things from my co-workers. My passion is working with dogs.
Jeca has had a lifelong passion for the tiniest of our furry friends. Her artistic touch combines the love of dogs, hairstyling, and the wild card of cleaning into all she does for us at Classic Grooming each day.
Bridgette Rose has been a integral part of Classic Grooming and the marketing of our services for 12 years. She has faced many challenges over the years and has passed them all with flying colors. Pet therapy, grooming competitions and fashion shows.
Emmie Jayne is one of our greeters. Many clients see her laying in the lobby, waiting to receive some love and attention. She loves treats and is great with kids.
Fred is a cool dog. A full coated Shih-Tzu with a lot of attitude. His Mom, Paige, says one of the funniest things he does is growl and rumble when she picks him up and holds him in front of her. It really is cute.
Lucy Lulu is a full breed Carolina Dingo that was rescued from the Charlotte Humane Society. She’s very vocal, almost too vocal at times. She’s a great dog who makes us laugh!
Jack is such an adorable dog. One of the cutest things he does at the shop is he celebrates each groom that his Mom (Emily) completes. As soon as she is finishing her groom dog, Jack knows with the bandanna or bow added, she finished grooming and he barks with joy.
Skeeter is a feisty black and white Pomeranian. While he is occasionally in full coat, he prefers a short, more sporty trim. While he is quite talkative at home, he is generally on his best behavior while at Classic Grooming. (He’s hoping for a treat)
Edgar is the assistant manager in charge of dog food inventory, customer service and quality control. He is charming, funny, athletic and introspective. And yes . . . he will work for food! He is a superstar! Just ask any of many fans.
Noelle is a Standard Schnauzer, who has won First Place in grooming competitions with her Mom, Stephanie.
London is a loving and adorable Mini Schnauzer who has a passion for chasing tennis balls, riding with his head out the window and getting lots of attention from humans. He is best friends with Edgar de Best.
Proper Coat Care
Classic Grooming and Isle of Dogs believe that proper grooming care of your dog can be a rewarding experience that will result in not only a healthier dog, but a healthier relationship between the two of you. However, proper care is largely misunderstood, and its importance often underestimated. Our philosophy is simple: keeping your dog clean and well-groomed promotes good health. But it goes well beyond hosing your dog in the backyard or having her nails done at the salon. It requires the proper products and techniques.
For years, dog owners have been under the misconception that bathing too often is bad for their dog’s coat. However, this myth is the consequence of poor grooming practices: using harmful household soaps, ultra-cold garden hose water, or human shampoos with inappropriate pH balance. With quality products made for dogs, like the Isle of Dogs grooming system, a dog can-and should-be bathed as often as needed, even on a daily basis. The results will be worth it.
Isle of Dogs – Key Ingredients
Developed over 20 years ago in England, Isle of Dogs Coature grooming products combine the finest quality raw materials into a revolutionary emulsion. As a result, oils are spread evenly through your dog’s coat and become absorbed into the hairs for a healthier shine even after rinsing. The two following ingredients are featured heavily throughout the product line.
Evening Primrose Oil: Rather than using extracts, we use only pure cold pressed Evening Primrose Oils (EPO) in order to provide the oils and related fatty acids that will enhance and maintain your dog’s coat. Royal Jelly: A natural substance produced by worker bees to feed their queen, Royal Jelly contains high levels of proteins, lipids, and vitamins that promote regeneration. For queen bees, it means living 40 times longer than nurse bees. For your dog, it means a richer, fuller coat and even hair regeneration where there may be hair loss.
Grooming and Service Rates
Service Rates depend on breed, style, condition of coat, size and temperament or age of dog. As professional groomers, our rates are based on time with each individual dog, and not always by the specific breed. Each dog is different in size and coat condition, even though it may be the same breed. The amount of labor, not the breed of dog, determines the final price. If the coat cannot be combed through from the skin out, it may be matted. For extra time spent dematting the coat, for example, there may be an additional charge to the base price.
We accept Amex, Visa, Discover, Mastercard and Diner’s Club International credit cards
